Our businesses

The Bakery Specialties business unit serves the needs of the baking industry, delivering leading-edge, technology-based, yeast, enzyme and specialty ingredient products. These core products are complemented with value-added services for the bakers, which include competent, regionally based technical sales managers able to offer technical advice and problem solving, a fully fledged product development capability to collaborate with customers, R&D and marketing departments, and a training centre offering certified training and development courses.

Anchor Bio-technologies business unit specializes in the supply of value-added natural yeast solutions to some of the world’s leading industries. “Bio-solutions” are offered to niche markets like the wine, whisky, commercial brewing and bio-control industries. This business unit also boasts an array of world firsts, which include the use of dried whisky yeast, the production of a test kit for managing nitrogen requirements of yeast strains during wine fermentation, and the launch of the first successful bio-control agent used in the control of post-harvest diseases in apples and pears. Products are not genetically modified. Anchor Yeast is one of the largest suppliers of wine yeast in the world and provides a wide variety of yeast strains to the world’s leading winemakers.

The Consumer business unit of Anchor Yeast supplies a range of leading products used in home baking and brewing, as well as small-scale commercial baking. Modified atmosphere packing technology is used to ensure freshness and a longer shelf-life. An important ingredient in Anchor’s success is the offering of added value service, and this business unit has a well-qualified Consumer Advisory Service that provides consumer education by means of baking demonstrations, baking courses and the supply of recipe leaflets, as well as promptly dealing with any baking related queries.
