Articles About Vitamin D and Well-being

Vitamin D may help prevent colds and flu

People with the lowest levels of vitamin D in their blood are the most likely to catch colds, showed an analysis of the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination survey.

In another study, the researchers Cannell et al. showed that the seasonality of influenza is tied to vitamin D and that vitamin D reduced the incidence of viral respiratory infections.

Vitamin D for cancer prevention

Higher vitamin D levels are associated with substantially lower incidence rates of colon, breast, ovarian, renal, pancreatic, aggressive prostate and other cancers, showed a review of Garland et al., published in the Annals of Epidemiology (2009: 19).

Vitamin D may lower diabetes risk

An increased vitamin D intake may reduce the risk of type-1 and possibly also type-2 diabetes. This notion is supported by many studies, for example.
