Lallemand Ethanol Technology used the IFEW platform to launch the joint (with Mascoma) brand named yeast at this show. TransFerm™, which is the first commercial application of Mascoma’s proprietary consolidated bioprocessing (CBP) technology platform, is a bioengineered drop-in substitute for conventional fermenting yeast that lowers costs for corn ethanol producers by alleviating the need to purchase a significant amount of the expensive enzymes currently used in corn ethanol production.
TransFerm™, which is currently commercially available, is manufactured and distributed by Lallemand and jointly marketed and sold by Mascoma and Lallemand through an exclusive partnership. TransFerm™ has been used in the production of over an estimated 50 million gallons of ethanol in both commercial use and commercial-scale trials by nine corn ethanol producers.
Lallemand Ethanol Technology was ever present with its newly themed TransFerm booth to kick off its introduction of this game changing new yeast. A new micro website was created to better understand the features and benefits of the new yeast. See www.ethanoltech.com/transferm for more details.
LET and Mascoma participated in a Sponsor Series lecture to give prospective operating facilities the opportunity to learn more in detail what TransFerm can do for their facility.
The announcement of the brand name as well as the Sponsor Series lecture created quite a buzz and we had multiple inquiries on the next steps. We are currently qualifying prospective production facilities and creating a priority list for trials and commercialization of TransFerm within the industry.
