Biotal, Lallemand Animal Nutrition’s UK business, held the second National Forage Conference at Reaseheath Agricultural College in Cheshire on June 27th. This annual event, first launched by Biotal in 2011, was attended by 200 delegates from the Uk, Ireland and other European markets. The key take home message from the speakers at the Conference was that: – increasing the proportion of milk yield achieved from forage is still the best strategy to help producers reduce the impact of the current milk price – production cost squeeze.

Commenting on the conference, Biotal National Technical Support Manager Roy Eastlake says: “The current downward pressure on milk prices combined with rising and volatile purchased feed prices mean farmers must make the best use of the feeds grown on the farm.  The challenge is maximising yield from forage and exploiting the full economic potential of all available forages.”
