In the 1980s, Clayton Cone of Lallemand started a successful sponsorship program for the best student in oenology selected by the American Society of Enology and Viticulture (ASEV). This year’s Best Student Poster award was presented to Frederico Casassa from Washington State University for “Timing and Severity of Regulated Deficit Irrigation on Cabernet Sauvignon. Wines: Interactive Effect of Skin Contact Time.”

Yue Yu, also from Washington State University, received the ASEV – Lallemand award for the Best Student Oral Presentation on the topic of “Improvement in Protein Precipitation Tannin Analysis by Altering Resuspension Buffer Formulation to Neutral pH.”

Lallemand wishes Mr. Casassa and Ms. Yu continued success in their studies and is proud to support their work with the ASEV – Lallemand awards.

The Best Student awards are now part of an international program in Lallemand’s Oenology division, as each market confers a Best Student award annually in their respective area.
