Institut Rosell, the human nutrition and health division of
Lallemand, has signed a license agreement with the Swedish biotech company
Probi. The agreement gives Institut Rosell exclusive rights to market products
containing one of Probi’s patented probiotics, Lp299v, on the dietary supplement
market.
‘Probiotics’ means ‘pro-life’: a probiotic is a living micro-organism
(bacteria) which, once ingested in sufficient quantity or taken orally, has a
functional and beneficial effect on the health of its host. Studies on Institut
Rosell probiotics support their beneficial effects, specifically their ability
to:
- Restore and maintain intestinal microflora balance which can be disturbed
(changes in dietary habits, travel, stress, age, antibiotics, …)
- Enhance intestinal transit
- Modulate the immune system
- Restore vaginal microflora balance
- Enhance lactose tolerance (dairy)

In this long-term relationship, Institut Rosell receives an exclusive license
with rights to market products containing Probi’s Lp299v in dietary supplements
throughout Europe and North America.
With the addition of this new strain into its probiotics portfolio, Institut
Rosell reconfirms the company strategy to offer specific solutions targeting
specific issues.
