Activity

Feed and food industry specialist and pioneer in the development, production and marketing of yeasts and bacteria, Lallemand offers a range of natural products that improve animal performance and welfare.

Lallemand offers a product range with scientifically proven and field tested results. We work closely with 70 renowned research institutes and universities worldwide as well as  directly with our customers 'in the field'.

Because high quality milk and meat production depend upon an animal's healthy diet and well-being, Lallemand provides its expertise to all players in the food chain around the world.

Lallemand is the only major supplier of yeast or bacteria that is a primary producer of both. Core products are lyophilized bacteria for probiotics and silage inoculants, active dry yeast for probiotics and inactive yeast mineral supplements. The Animal nutrition & health division also supplies a range of related animal health and nutrition products including yeast cell fractions, diet acidifiers and nutritional gels.

Mission : "animal sanum in natura sana"

Do you speak Latin?

Readers who have noticed our motto may wonder why we use ancient Latin when English is the international language in this modern age of technology and global communication.

Two thousand years ago, Latin was the main language throughout the Roman Empire. The heritage of Latin is still vivid in modern English and western European languages today.

Perhaps you didn’t need a Latin language degree to understand those words that haven’t changed too much over the millennia. But, interestingly, as language has evolved, most Latin words have lost their very rich meaning which often represented the general rather than the specific, and depending on their context, could be translated in various ways.

Indeed, animal stands for “animated being” and can be taken as both “animal” and “mankind”. Natura, the ancestor of “nature”, represents Nature in its most general sense, “the universe.” Finally, the adjective sanus means both “healthy”, and also “unaltered,” and “intact”.

At Lallemand Animal Nutrition, we feel that our mission is well encapsulated by those five words: « animal sanum in natura sana ».

Our objective is to develop and offer products and services that will bring value to the producer in a way that respects the environment and the equilibrium of ecosystems, at the same time answering consumers’ growing demand for safe and natural food ingredients. Our products do this by revealing and optimizing the existing potential of animals in terms of health and performance.
